Easter Tea

Here is a little spread of goodies we had for Easter Sunday Afternoon Tea.  After a lunch of Jamie Oliver’s Slow Roasted Shoulder of Lamb and lots of chocolate for dessert, there was definitely no need for sandwiches or scones…

The cupcakes are Lavender Sugar’s ‘Luscious Lemon’, with a tangy lemon curd surprise filling. The large wrapped cake is a traditional ‘Colomba’ (Dove) cake from Carluccio’s.  (I was seduced by the traditional story and the exquisite packaging – I’m a marketing person’s dream shopper…)  This is similar to pannetone and is absolutely delicious, with a beautiful crunchy top – see below!  We do have some left over and if it isn’t eaten in the next day or two, I think I will freeze it and keep to make a bread and butter pudding…

When two of our guests were three-year-old twins, how could we not do Easter nests with mini eggs on top? (A great excuse, anyway…!) Sometimes something really simple is just what is needed.
