This weekend we had friends staying and their little girl remembered Lavender Sugar’s cupcakes from a previous visit! I had actually planned to make some different cakes, but as Trudie had requested cupcakes I didn’t want to disappoint her. These are Vanilla Cupcakes with piped vanilla buttercream, blue roses and daisies and a bit of pink glitter for a little girl who loves everything pink and princessly!
This beautiful red tea cosy was knitted by my mother-in-law. This started off as a fundraising initiative for her local church, but these have become incredibly popular and are now spread across the UK with several in Surrey and several in Cambridgeshire, not to mention those all around Tenbury Wells!
These are so beautifully thick that they keep your teapot warm for ages – brilliant for when you’re having a nice long chat over several cups of tea (and lots of lovely cakes of course)!!
At Lavender Sugar we always put some fresh flowers on the tea party table. This time of the year has to be our favourite with numerous things to choose from in the garden. This huge pink peony smells beautiful and looks lovely with the red roses. One good thing about the heavy rain we have been having is that I don’t feel bad about picking these enormous peonies and bringing them into the house!
Sorry for the large gap in posts – it has been a hectic time! Friday’s Strawberry Tea Party in aid of Breast Cancer Care was very successful and we would like to thank everyone who came and donated so generously to such a worthy cause. Here are some photos of the goodies people had with their tea (and the cakes we sold to boost the fundraising)!
This stand has Strawberry Cupcakes with Strawberry Buttercream (in the gingham cases) and Vanilla Cupcakes topped with Vanilla Buttercream and a whole strawberry (in the spotty wrappers). The strawberry cupcakes have fresh strawberries in the cake and in the icing – fantastic taste and a beautiful shade of pink…
The tea table looking very strawberry-ish!
We sold cupcakes in boxes of six to boost our fundraising efforts. They flew off the shelf… These are Chocolate Cupcakes with Chocolate Buttercream, some topped with whole strawberries and the others with mini-Smarties to appeal to our younger customers!
Lavender Sugar will be at the Farnham Maltings Market on Saturday 5th June, in the Barley Room, so please come and see us there! We have lovely peg bags to brighten up a summer’s wash day, beautiful cushions to give a fresh and summery look to your home, to name just a few items… If you’re looking for a gift for someone, or a treat for yourself, there’s sure to be something you’ll love.
The market is open from 9.30am to 4.00pm, so pop in when you’re out for your weekend shopping!
A small selection of pretty cushions.
We have pretty hearts filled with locally grown lavender.
Crisp, fresh blue and white cushions, lavender sachets and lavender-filled cat!
Lavender Sugar will be holding a Strawberry Tea event in aid of Breast Cancer Care on Friday 11th June 2010! There will be delicious cakes, lots of strawberries and cups of tea and a raffle with some lovely things to win. Contact us at email@example.com if you would like more details.
There has been a bit of a gap in posts as I have been away on holiday in Cornwall for a few days. Now back and eager to get cooking again! This is a photo of a muffin I had for breakfast at the Porthminster Cafe in St Ives last week. It was warm from the oven and had fresh strawberries in it… As you can see we had perfect weather for eating on the beach. We had a delicious meal evening meal here too – the fish is so beautifully fresh – highly recommended!
Beautiful Porthminster Beach…
More cakes soon!
